sculptural object "BURAK"
BURAK collection — functional sculptures made of copper and stainless steel in three different sizes (large, medium, small). Each sculpture — in edition of 8.
All objects are first cut out and then subjected to molding and complex multi-stage processing. Influenced by air, high temperatures and chemical reactions, each sculpture develops its own unique surface texture. As a result of working with the form, an illusory feeling of pliability and lightness of the object arises.
The plasticity of the sculptures vaguely follows the contours of ancient folk Slavic objects gone out of use, such as a birch bark basket. The half-forgotten names and lost functions of these objects appear in Lena Solovyeva’s sculptures as an illusive connection with the culture of the past.
