For the PAD exhibition, Hashimoto has created a new
series of works. The surfaces of his ceramics now re-
sonate differently, emphasizing the new dimensions
of material exploration.
“This new series uses low-temperature glazes with a
high glassy quality. I have long researched low-tem-
perature firing to preserve the rawness, texture, and
shape of the clay. These works invite direct touch,
allowing one to experience the unique sensation of
glazes adhering to the skin — their smoothness and
tactility”, states the artist.
In terms of color, this series employs a simpler pa-
lette in contrast to the complex hues of the artist’s
previous works. This clarity enhances the percep-
tion of form, reinforcing the spatial awareness that is
central to his practice.
“At first glance, these pieces
may seem different from my earlier works. However,
I believe that the background to my creation has not
changed much. It is just a part of the gradual change
in myself”, Hashimoto explains.
