JOHN FRANZEN SOLO EXHIBITION

On November 16, Booroom Gallery opened the first Russian exhibition of German artist John Franzen, a graduate of the Dutch Academy of Fine Arts, known all over the world from Hong Kong to London.

At the gallery, the artist presented 15 large-scale works, canvases and sculptures from his two last projects. Each Line One Breath is a graphic series depicting the thinnest lines, which, as the name says, are drawn with one breath.

The second series is called Creation is Destruction, or The Narcissistic Mirror & The Inability to Overcome the Narcissistic Universe. Willing to restore the awareness and desire for self-knowledge, Franzen physically destroys the surface of steel and titanium with bullets and knives. The artist urges people to look inside themselves to find answers to the most important questions in order not to repeat the ancient myth of Narcissus, who died falling in love with his reflection seen on the water.
