BLAZAR 2024

BLAZAR 2024

Kolya Dykhne creates his own universe, a separate microcosm with mythological images in dialogue with ancient cultures. His objects are part of a global study of the world in its complexity and the beauty of imperfections. The artist's area of interest is monuments of ancient art, which for him do not speak of the archaic past, but, on the contrary, allow him to look into the future and leave his message. Kolya has been passionate about creativity since early childhood. He did not receive a professional art education, but independently mastered complex, almost lost techniques. The artist works with sculpture, graphics, fabric and ink and turns to a variety of art forms - especially those that allow you to look in a new way at the beauty of abstract forms.

Booroom Gallery presents the first collection of large spatial objects by Kolya Dykhne, which took two years to complete. The objects that emerged as a result of intuitive searches combine functional features and properties of art objects. Each of them is handmade and unique.

Together with the artist, we presented a mono-stand at the Blazar young art fair in the Design section.

The Abyss series became a meditation on the conflict between the cosmic and the earthly for the artist. Brass "constellations" and "satellites" are scattered chaotically across the black wooden surface. The brutal technique of execution emphasizes the contradiction between humanity's fantasy of space and the earthly origin, reminiscent of the Nebra sky disc or the Dunhuang star chart, the oldest surviving images of the starry sky in the world.

Two Gemini sculptures made of burnt wood seem to be reflections of each other, but a closer look reveals their differences. This work is again a meditation on dualism and contradictions, expressed in simple forms that have both anthropomorphic and abstract-geometric origins.

The vertical metal sculpture Chaos can have a functional use as a hanger, or it can remain an art object in the interior. The chaotic combination of graphic elements-glyphs forms a simple object that creates a new symbol or hieroglyph when viewed from different angles.

Another sculptural object, the metal figure Animal in the form of an abstract animal resembles the silhouette of a horse, a giraffe or even a dinosaur  like a drawing of another unmarked constellation that has yet to be discovered.
